We offer appointments between the hours of 7am and 4pm Monday to Friday.
A standard session is usually 50 minutes in duration. Please note that appointment times cannot be extended past the scheduled time. Please note that if you arrive late the full fee will still apply in this circumstance.
Our service fees are outlined here. Anyone can book an appointment with a psychologist without a GP referral, however, these sessions are not eligible for a Medicare rebate. If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) or Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDTP), you may receive a Medicare rebate.
Alternatively, some private health insurers may cover part of the cost of a session, please check with your insurer for details.
Yes, if you have obtained a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) or Eating Disorder Treatment Plan (EDTP) from your GP or Psychiatrist you should be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year under a MHCP or 40 sessions under an EDTP. The current Medicare rebate for a session with a Clinical Psychologist is $141.85.
To check if you are eligible you can make an appointment with you GP and ask for a MHCP (or EDTP as appropriate). If your GP determines you are eligible, they will provide you with the suitable plan. Please bring your MHCP or EDTP, together with your referral letter, to your initial appointment as these are required to process the rebates.
If you have Private Health Insurance, you may be able to claim a rebate. We recommend checking with your Private Health Insurance Provider about your cover inclusions as each health fund will differ. Please note that if you are covered by your health fund, you will need to pay the full fee for the psychological service, then claim the rebate directly from your private health provider independently.
For us to provide you with the most accessible and highest quality service, cancellation fees for any late reschedules, cancellations or missed appointments will apply. To avoid the cancellation fees, we kindly ask that you please provide us with as much notice as possible before changing your appointment. Our cancellation policy requires at least 48 hours notice (2 business days).
Yes, sessions via Telehealth (phone or video) are available and are a great way to attend sessions when it is not possible to attend appointments in person. We recommend the following before commencing a telehealth appointment:
Please be aware that Telehealth appointments may be subject to limitations (such as unstable network connections) which may affect the quality of the session provided. Additionally, Telehealth may not be appropriate or effective for all services. Any concerns or whether Telehealth may or may not be appropriate can be discussed with your practitioner.
In the first session, your Psychologist will ask you questions and gather information to help them understand your history and current difficulties, and of course, to get to know you. This will help to collaboratively set some treatment goals and formulate a treatment plan to support your needs. It is also important to determine if you feel comfortable with your psychologist, you should be able to speak openly and honestly with them about your concerns. Ongoing treatment will then commence in the following sessions.
Each individual is different, so the number of sessions required will depend on each individual’s presenting concerns and goals for treatment. It is normal that the structure and number of sessions can change as sessions are adapted accordingly in conjunction with progress and life changes.
